A photo cake is one of the most personal gifts you can send. We print your picture on an edible sheet and place it on top of the cake. The result depends a lot on the photo you choose, so here is a quick guide to getting it right.
Choose a clear, bright photo
- Good light: daylight photos print best. Dark party photos come out muddy.
- Close-up faces: faces should fill a good part of the frame. Tiny faces in a group shot are hard to see on a cake.
- Original file: send the original photo, not a screenshot or a WhatsApp forward, which lose quality.
- Simple background: a plain wall or sky looks cleaner than a busy room.
Which photo cake shape to choose?
| Shape | Best for |
|---|---|
| Round | Single portraits and couple photos |
| Square or rectangle | Group photos, memes, landscape pictures |
| Heart | Anniversaries and Valentine’s Day |
A bigger cake gives a bigger print, so for group photos go for 2 kg or more.

Adding text to a photo cake
Keep the message short so it does not cover faces. “Happy Birthday” plus a name is usually enough. Tell us where you want the text and we will place it on the photo or around the border.
Photo cake ideas
- A baby’s first month or six month photo.
- A couple photo for an anniversary.
- A school photo of your teacher for Teachers’ Day.
- A funny meme or old photo for a friend.

Ordering a photo cake
Upload the photo on the product page when you order. Photo cakes need a little time to print, so place same-day orders before 6 PM, or pick midnight delivery for a 12 o’clock surprise. Every cake is 100% eggless.
Photo cake mistakes to avoid
- Using a photo with text already on it. Filters, stickers and captions look messy when printed on a cake.
- Cropping too tight. Leave a little space around faces, as the border and piping cover the edges.
- Choosing a very dark photo. Edible ink prints a little darker than your screen, so pick a bright picture.
- Sending a low resolution image. If it looks blurry on your phone when you zoom in, it will look blurry on the cake.
Photo cake questions
Is the photo edible? Yes. It is printed with edible ink on a thin edible sheet made from starch and sugar.
Does the photo affect the taste? No. The sheet is very thin and has almost no taste.
Can I use more than one photo? Yes. Make a collage on your phone first and send it as one picture, or ask us on WhatsApp.
Is a photo cake eggless? Yes. Every photo cake we make is 100% eggless, in any of our flavours.
Best photos for different occasions
Birthdays: a recent, smiling portrait where the face fills the frame. Anniversaries: a wedding photo or a recent picture of the couple together. Babies: a close-up on a plain blanket. Friends: an old school or college photo always gets a big reaction. Teachers: a class photo with the teacher in the middle. Whatever you choose, look at it on your phone at full size first. If the faces are sharp and bright there, they will look good on the cake too. If you are unsure between two photos, send both on WhatsApp and we will tell you which one will print better.
